Visits from Grandma Laskowski
Every year, Grandma Mary and Grandpa Walter would close up the hotel in Put-In-Bay and come to Cleveland for Thanksgiving. After visiting relatives, they would head for their winter home in Boynton Beach, Florida. They would play Pinochle every day and sometimes go bass fishing on one of the inland lakes there.
In the spring, they would drive back to Cleveland to celebrate Easter and then head back to Put-In-Bay.
When we lived on Beacon, they would stop in for a visit and play cards with Ma & Dad until late. Since Grandma was hard of hearing, she would talk very loud and it used to keep me awake.
After Walter died, Uncle Walter Thornton used to drive Grandma to Florida and then fly home to Maple Heights, Ohio.
